ICT Minister Witnesses Signing MoU between ITIDA, Jusfoun

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Jusfoun Big Data Information Group Co., Ltd., to establish an office for the company in Egypt, including a Center of Excellence (CoE) to export IT services.
This was during Talaat’s visit to China, heading a high level delegation, to participate in BRICS Future Network Innovation Forum, and discuss joint cooperation with senior officials, ministers, and representatives of major Chinese ICT companies, participating in the forum.
The ICT Minister highlighted that this Egyptian Chinese cooperation will benefit both sides, as it will help leverage Jusfoun’s advanced technology. It will also benefit the company through expanding its services in Africa and various Arab countries, starting from its office in Egypt.
During the three-year MoU, Jusfoun will recruit 300 Egyptian youth in specialized jobs, as phase one. The MoU, also, stipulates that ITIDA shall provide the needed support to facilitate the company’s work and develop the specialized skills required for work at the company’s office in Egypt, through which it will export research and development (R&D) services, software and applications development, Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and relevant applications development services.
Moreover, Talaat held a meeting with a delegation from Jusfoun, headed by CEO Maxwell Wang. They agreed on signing an agreement between ITIDA and Jusfoun in the next two months, in Egypt, to establish a capacity building academy in AI, big data, and cloud computing, and establish a cloud computing system in cooperation with Telecom Egypt through the data center.
In addition, the two sides agreed to cooperate to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and activities of startups specializing in big data and AI, through cooperating with the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).
Jusfoun was established in 2010. It is one of the largest big data operators, and the first to provide a platform for Global Big Data Exchange (GBDE), in China. It, also, designed and developed over 4000 applications, implemented governmental projects in big data management, and contributed in building and planning several smart cities in China.
The meeting was attended by ITIDA Vice President Hossam Osman, ICT Minister’s Advisor for AI Golestan Radwan, a number of officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Jusfoun Senior Vice President Jacob Lay, CTO Fred Zhen, and Assistant President Hao Wang.
