IT Strategy

  • IT Industry National Development Strategy targeting Export Growth
  • A.T. Kearney revised Marketing Strategy to Establish Egypt as an Offshore Services Center.
    • MCIT and ITIDA are setting a 5 year strategy for strengthening the ICT sector’s export potential.
    • The first point is to identify the current situation and analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for that sector, from the point of view of exports.
    • A general study was conducted over a period of one year including all stakeholders, and championed by ITIDA to come up with the framework requirements for the sector within the upcoming 5 years. The result of that is a set of programs that are highly needed by the sector and would add to increase the exports from the current estimated 250M$ to over 1B$ by 2010.
    • A focused study was conducted by AT Kearney to match Egypt’s strengths with the global market opportunity gap, and the corresponding potential industries
    • Both ITIDA’s framework as well as Kearney’s study have been compiled to form together the new strategy for the ICT exports.
    • The initial versions of both studies have been presented to the community and are being sent out to receive further comments/suggestions from all possible stakeholders.
    • Once all comments have been received they will be included and the final document comprising Egypt’s ICT export strategy will be made public both for the local community as well as globally.
    • Corresponding detailed action items and programs will be finalized shortly thereafter.
