ITIDA and IT Industry in Egypt
One of Egypt’s primary goals is to create an export-oriented ICT sector and to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to further develop this industry. ITIDA’s most crucial mandate is to act as the developer and promoter of the IT industry. It aims at achieving the following: expanding the local market, penetrating and developing new markets, partnering with multinationals, building and improving the competitiveness and capacities of the local companies and empowering and training the IT workforce. All IT industry development activities will be implemented according to an agreed upon National Development Plan A task force composed of world class IT experts and professionals are brainstormed to put together the most effective methodologies, mechanisms, initiatives, programs and projects to be employed to advance the IT industry in Egypt and position it among the most advanced IT industries worldwide. The Plan will also examine all challenges and barriers and devise the most efficient solutions to overcome them. Strengths of the industry will be highlighted and potential opportunities identified accordingly. The plan covers the whole economic spectrum, targeting different industries that utilizes IT solutions. The overall goal is to create a critical mass of IT users expanding the base of users and thereby the volume of IT utilization.

The Smart Token Project
Scope of work
The scope of work shall consist of developing an USB based authentication token with an intended use for both Government and Citizens, including private and banking sectors.
The aim of the project is to produce an Egyptian USB based authentication token for multiple applications and network services, as in E-Signature, virtual private networks (VPNs), controls intranets, extranets, and internet access. The smart token can also be used in other public key infrastructure (PKI) environments and for the authentication requirements. International standards will be strictly followed in order to support interoperability.
