  • MCIT Minister Heads to Canada on a Trade Mission to Promote Investment in Egypt

  • H.E. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel headed to Canada on top of a 76-member Egyptian delegation of government officials, media representatives, civil society organizations and business leaders on a six-day trade mission trip.

    The mission aims to is to promote ICT trade relations with the Canadian government and private sector, as well as with the Egyptian expatriate community in Canada in the field of CIT.

    The delegation will visit three of Canada’s key cities: Toronto, the country's largest city, Ottawa, the capital in the Ontario province and Montreal, in the Quebec province. Through arranged meetings with a selected number of leading Canadian ICT companies, such as Nortel and RIM (Blackberry), the mission will promote the Egyptian government's incentive packages to invest in Egypt.

    The delegation will furthermore explore collaborative possibilities with the Canadian government officials in the areas of ICT policies, technology development and ICT for Development. In addition, the Egyptian ICT expatriate community will be informed of cooperation opportunities with the ICT sector in Egypt, especially in technology development and Nile University.

    The mission is jointly organized by the Canadian Egyptian Business Council (CEBC), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the Egyptian Embassy in Canada and the Canadian Embassy in Egypt. Co-organizers include the Canada-Arab Business Council, the Toronto Trade Center, the Montreal Trade Center, and the Canada Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
