18 major IT Egyptian companies showcased their services and products at Gitex Riyadh 2007. The Egyptian Pavilion was sponsored by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

Major international ICT companies and thousands of experts in the field from governments, civil society, regional and world organizations took part in this international event with a mission to further strengthen ties between the region’s fastest-growing markets.

The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) participated in the Egyptian pavilion. Dr. Gamal Mohamed Aly, SECC Chairman Dr. Aly stated that GITEX Riyadh 2007 is an ideal opportunity for introducing SECC to the Gulf markets, especially that a large number of companies and authorities in this particular region have shown keenness on cooperating with SECC.

SECC has achieved outstanding success with many Egyptian software companies in providing training, consultation and assessment services. Up to date, SECC helped 22 software Egyptian companies to be successfully assessed towards the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). SECC aims at continuing its successes to include the entire Arab region.

Along with marketing for the CMMI certificate, Dr. Gamal added that we launched the latest edition of the Software Process Improvement Guide (SPIG). This guide was invented by the center's experts to assist software companies that seek developing its performance. The guide is considered an integrated map that starts with software companies from the stage of initial evaluation to the company's level including all technical and technological matters for the production of software and solutions with international standards and quality.

As a result, a number of entities expressed their interest in cooperating with SECC and obtaining specialized training courses as well as proceeding with the CMMI journey.
