About IPR Office
Since its establishment on 1999, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has given first priority to supporting and developing the software industry and to attracting foreign investments in Egypt. In order to meet this objective, the reform of the former Copyright Law appeared extremely necessary. On 2 June 2002, the new Intellectual Property Law was issued and published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, the IPR Office was established to be in charge of administering an efficient national copyright system regarding software and databases and ensuring compliance by software enterprises with the new Copyright Law.
