1. Introduction:

The Export-IT Rebate program was first launched by ITIDA in 2010 with the aim of helping Egyptian companies increase their exports from IT products and services and minimizing the impact of economic downturn witnessed.

The program was designed in coordination with the Egyptian NGOs as representatives of the IT industry. By virtue of this program eligible approved companies receive direct cash rebate on the collected proceeds of their value-added exports during a specific time frame.

2. Export IT Rebate Program 2011:

In May 2011, ITIDA re-launched the Export-IT program with same terms & conditions of the previous program under the auspices of the Minister of Communications & Information Technology.


2.1. Eligibility Criteria:

2.1.1 Effective Ownership:
More than 50% Effective Egyptian ownership (Egyptian nationality of individual owners of the company should be proven).

2.1.2 Headquarters:
Company should be headquartered in Egypt

2.2. Rebate value:

2.2.1 Cash rebate amounting to a maximum of 10% of their value added exports (with a ceiling of USD 500,000 per company per year) provided that the related proceeds were transferred by importers and collected by the company in year 2010 (i.e. cash-bases rather than accrual-bases).

2.2.2 Exact rebate percentage announced at the end of the program was approved by the Export-IT Committee according to the budget approved for the entire program and the applications received.


2.3. The process:

2.3.1 Registration Phase

Start Date: 19/05/2011
End Date: 29/05/2011

Registration for Export IT Program 2011 deadline has been extended till 28/08/2011 maximum by 03:00 p.m.

Companies were invited to input/update their company information on ITIDA's database and register under the Export-IT rebate program for 2011 by logging on https://login.itida.gov.eg/ 

2.3.2 Submission of Export-IT Application and supporting documents:

Start Date: 31/05/2011
End Date: 30/06/2011

Document submission for Export IT Program 2011 deadline has been extended till 28/08/2011 maximum by 03:00 p.m.

Note: All documents and information are treated with strict confidentiality.


2.3.3 Documents Review & Rebate Announcement

Start Date: 03/07/2011. A limited tender was conducted to select an auditing firm to handle the review & analysis of documents submitted. As such, documents review process was postponed till 24/11/2010.
 
End Date: Export-IT Committee decision & rebate amount were announced on 10/01/2012.

Export-IT program consultants will be reviewing all submitted documents and conducting necessary assessments and cross validation.
Approval/rejection of Export-IT application as well as deciding on the rebate amount will be made by the Export-IT committee members based on review reports presented by the program consultants.
