1. About Export IT:

The Export-IT Rebate program was first launched by ITIDA in 2010 with the aim of helping Egyptian companies increase their exports from IT products and services and minimizing the impact of economic downturn witnessed.

The program was designed in coordination with the Egyptian NGOs as representatives of the IT industry. By virtue of this program eligible approved companies receive direct cash rebate on the collected proceeds of their value-added exports during a specific time frame.

2. Export IT Rebate Program 2012:

In 2012, ITIDA re-launched the Export-IT program for the third year respectively under the auspices of the Minister of Communications and Information Technology.


2.1. Eligibility Criteria:

Egyptian ICT companies applying for the program should meet the following criteria:

2.1.1 Company’s Ownership:
More than 50% Egyptian Ownership.

2.1.2 Headquarters:
Company should be headquartered in Egypt.

Note:

  • There is no minimum nor maximum limit with respect to the company’s export proceeds, size, number of employees…etc. All companies meeting the program’s criteria would be eligible to participate in the program.

2.2. Rebate value:

2.2.1 By virtue of this program, approved companies will be receiving cash rebate amounting to a maximum of 10% of their value added exports (with a ceiling of USD 500,000 per company per year) provided that the related proceeds were transferred by importers and collected by the company in their bank account maintained in Egypt during year 2011 (i.e. cash-bases rather than accrual-bases).

 Exact rebate percentage will be announced at the end of the program according to the budget approved for the entire program and the applications received.


2.3. The process:

2.3.1 Registration Phase

End Date: 30/06/2012

Registration for Export IT Program 2012 has been re-opened for eligible companies on 09/09/2012 and ends on 30/09/2012 maximum by end of day.

Companies are invited to input/update their company information on ITIDA’s website and register under the Export-IT Rebate Program 2012.

Note: Companies that have previously participated in the Export-IT program during 2010 and/or 2011 are also requested to register under Export-IT program 2012.

2.3.2 Submission of Export-IT Application and supporting documents:

End Date: 31/07/2012

Document Submission for Export IT Program 2012 has been re-opened for eligible companies on 09/09/2012 and ends on 30/09/2012 maximum by end of day

Companies should arrange to submit Export-IT application form and supporting documents in hard copy as indicated in the attached checklist and terms & conditions document.
 
Soft Copy of Export-IT Application Form & Covering Sheet(s) (identical to the Hard Copy submitted to ITIDA in company’s file) should be sent via e-mail to exportit@itida.gov.eg. Soft copy should be in “Excel Sheet” format in order to allow ITIDA to extract, review and verify company related data. Companies should ensure that the soft copy is sent to ITIDA on the same date of documents submission. 

Documents Submission Time & Venue
Hard copies of Export-IT application, checklist and related supporting documents should be sent to ITIDA from Sunday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to the following address:

Notes:       

  1. Soft Copy of Application should be sent via e-mail to exportit@itida.gov.eg.
  2. Companies that send soft copy of documents only (i.e. do not submit hardcopies of application form & supporting documents as per the above-mentioned deadlines) would not participate in the program.
  3. All documents and information will be treated with strict confidentiality.

2.3.3 Documents Review & Rebate Announcement

Start Date: 01/08/2012.  
End Date: To be advised

Document review & rebate announcement start dates will be advised in due course.

Export-IT program consultants will be reviewing all submitted documents and conducting necessary assessments and cross validation.

Approval/rejection of Export-IT application as well as deciding on the rebate amount will be made by the Export-IT committee members based on review reports presented by the program consultants.

Companies will be advised on the committee’s decision in due time and upon closure of the program.
